Heart Rate Variability
Heart rate variability (HRV) is the calculation of the time between heart beats.
There can be dramatic time changes, or variation, between heart beats depending if the body is relaxed or stressed. When the body is under stress that can be chemical, mental or physical, the flight/fight nervous system kicks in and produces less variability between heart rates. When the body is well rested, the rest/repair nervous system takes over and causes more variability between heart beats. We can measure your heart rate variability to determine how well your body is handling stress and measure whether it is improving over time from your various therapies and changes to your lifestyle. |
